Here is a glossary of terms that you might see
in the domain biz....I will add more as I remember. :)
- TLD - This means Top Level domain. That does not mean "good" domain.
The TLD is the stuff after the dot. SO....COM, NET, ORG, these are
all TLDs. I always laugh when I see that idiot on ebay saying he
is selling a TLD or a top level domain.
- RPC - This means rate per click. That is the amount of money you
make every time someone clicks through from one of your domains.
- CTR - This is your clickthrough rate.
- OVT - This is the abbreviation for Overture. Sometimes you may
see OVT with ext. This means Overture with Extension.
- IDN - International Domain Name.
- ccTLD - This means Country Code TLD. Something like.eu, or .es,
or .co.uk
- URL Forwarding - This is when you basically just forward your domain
to another location.
- PR - This means Page Rank. It tells you what the page rank is on
Google and such.
- C & D - This means Cease and Desist. If you own any typo names
for trademarked companies, you may get a C & D letter. Apparently
MySapce sent out a bunch of them...I knew people that lost many domains.
- WIPO - This is the organization that protects TMed domains.
